Universal is reportedly producing a 3D remake of Jaws.

And there you were thinking it was safe to go back in the water….

Cinemablend is stating that they have an exclusive inside word from the studio confirming that the success of the all-conquering Avatar has prompted them to push ahead with plans to remake Steven Spielberg's 1975 classic.

Of course, Jaws was originally remade in shockingly bad 3D back in 1983 (with Jaws 3-D), but with all the Avatar-related 3D technology floating around (and off the screen into our faces) we're hoping for a more involving effort than that.

The inside source also mentioned that the star of 30 Rock, and Kevin William's upcoming buddy comedy Cop Out, Tracy Morgan, was being lined up to play Matt Hooper, the part previously played by Richard Dreyfuss. While it’s uncertain whether that’s still the plan, it does indicate that they seem to be taking a more comedic direction with the part.

This is just a rumor, from a source we’ve spoken with, but never used before. We're working on some sort of official confirmation. In the meantime file this under gossip which, let’s face it, isn't hard to believe. Universal already busted out a few laughable Jaws sequels in the 80’s. They even tried their hand at a 3-D version of the shark with 1983’s Jaws 3-D. It only makes sense to come back to the idea now that they have the technology to do it right.

I'm so sick of these fucking remakes the karate kid is one thing, the wolf man is another, and Friday the 13th who gave fuck about that movie but still jaws is were i put my foot if they make a jaws or a child's play remake i swear to god i will blow up universal studios don't fuck with those to movies. :sniper:
