The fixtures have been released for the 2006/2007 Premiership season with the opening day list throwing up some interesting encounters.

Champions Chelsea will entertain Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on the first weekend of August 19/20 with Andrei Shevchenko and Michael Ballack already added to Jose Mourinho's star-studded squad.

Newly-promoted Sheffield United have a cracking opener to look forward to against Liverpool while Reading face Middlesbrough and Watford are at Everton.

Manchester United duo Louis Saha and Edwin van der Sar come up against former club Fulham with Arsenal tackling Aston Villa in their first league game at their new Emirates Stadium.

Tottenham travel to Bolton Wanderers, Portsmouth meet Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United take on Wigan Athletic, while West Ham and Charlton scrap out a London derby.

Liverpool and Newcastle do battle in the second round of fixtures, with the Anfield clash scheduled for August 23.
