The Murderers is a group that consists of Ja Rule, Black Child, Tah Murder, 0-1 Ronnie Bumps and female rapper Vita.
1. Intro
2. Murderers
The Murderers starts the album of by dropping hard lyrics over a laid-back beat. Ja Rule is doing the chorus, and he’s doing it good. Tight opening track.
3. Dem Niggaz
This track has got a laid back beat too, the difference it that it’s a very dark beat. The Murderers are basically rapping about who they are, and what they represent. Once again a dope track, where everybody was spitting some hard lyrics.
4. We don’t give a fuck
“We don’t give a fuck” was the first single of the album! I like the way they use the Rocky-sample, it makes the track very “Crunk” and up-tempo. That’s not the only good thing tho. The Murderers go crazy over the beat and are dropping decent lyrics with a whole lot of attitude. This track was too hard for BET/MTV so they only released it on Mix-Tapes. You can understand why, when you hear the track. Tight banging track that fit in fine in the Mix-Tape circle.
5. Clowns (Skit)
6. Shit gets ugly
The beat on “Shit gets ugly” is average; it’s the energy in this track that keeps your attention trough the track. The hook isn’t all that either. Average track.
7. We Murderers baby
Ja Rule and Vita are the only ones doing this track. I normally don’t like female rappers but Vita puts it down. Ja Rule and Vita trade bars over the dope up-tempo beat. Nothing is bad on this track, and it’s one of the best on the album. Ja and Vita really show that they could be a tight duo and I hope they do more tracks together.
8. Interview with Vita (Skit)
9. Vita, Vita, Vita
On this track Vita goes solo. She’s dropping dope lyrics over the good and catchy beat and the hook is very simple yet catchy. Ja Rule is doing some ad-libs during the hook. If we get more tracks like this from Vita, she could be the next big female artist.
10. How many wanna die
Ja Rule goes solo on this track and it’s easily the best track on this album. It’s also one of Ja Rule’s tightest tracks. The beat is flawless, and it’s one of the best beats coming from Murda Inc`s. Not to mention the catchy hook and Ja Rules tight lyrics.
11. Fuck parole (Skit)
12. We getting high tonight
Black Child is one of my favorite artists from Murda Inc Records. On this track he’s doing his first solo track. The beat is average and doesn’t fit him but his lyrics are good tho, and he’s making the hook very catchy. Still they could have picked a better beat for him. I know he can do better.
13. Tales from the dark side feat Dmx
I don’t know why they picked this track from DMX. It’s cool to have a solo track from him but this track is nothing special at all. The beat is boring and DMX is “barking” more than rapping. They should have kept this track away from this album.
14. I love the Yankees (Skit)
15. Get it right
This is Tah Murdah’s solo track. Just like Black Child he gets an average beat. The lyrics are decent; the hook is better tho and it making the track better, but it’s still average.
16. We different
After three average tracks they hit us with a banger. This beat is up-tempo (That type of beats fits this group best), and they all come trough with mad energy and hard-hitting lyrics. The one who stand out the most is Ja Rule - he doesn’t only do the hook but he’s dropping one of his hardest verses ever.
17. Remo (Skit)
18. Rebels symphony
This track is really up-tempo and The Murderers are coming with a whole lot of energy. The lyrics are straight gangsta and is hitting very hard. The one thing that I liked about this track was that there is no hook; they just keep spitting hard lyrics trough out the track.
19. Black or white
Black Child goes solo once again. This time he is laced with a better and kind of laid-back beat. It’s at the same time very catchy. Black child keeps our attention trough out the track with his hard lyrics that makes you feel how serious he is. The hook is cool too and very catchy.
20. The 187 Murdah Baptist church picnic (Skit)
21. If you were my bitch
The only track dedicated to the ladies. It’s hard to take the group serious tho since the hook is unserious RnB. It’s wack and childish. The beat is cool though and it’s very mellow. None of The Murderers are really impressing me except Ja Rule. Average track.
22. 96r-0709 (Skit)
23. Crime scene
Average track that don’t really fit in. The beat is cool and Tah Murdah does his thing. The rest isn’t very impressing.
24. Somebody’s gonna die tonight feat Lil Mo
Although Lil Mo is featured on this track, they still spit hard lyrics over an RnB beat. That doesn’t stop Lil Mo from singing gangsta lyrics throughout the hook. Still it’s a nice collab if you can look past the fact that Lil Mo is trying to sound gangsta.
25. Holla, Holla Remix feat Jay-Z
If you have heard the original “Holla, Holla” there is really no need to hear this one since they use the same beat. The only thing that’s different is that the Murderers and Jay-Z are featured.
So how is the first group release from Murda Inc? Well in my opinion the album is solid and you can bump it right trough. Still there are things that they should do better on their next release. First of, take away all the skits, they’re wack and annoying. Second, they need better production on some tracks. They could also use variation in their lyrics. With that said I would recommend this album to those that love that hard New York Gangsta music.
I give it 4/5.
