Caddillac Tah Interview

How did you get the name Caddillac Tah?

It's just a nickname I've had for a long time because I used the name Tah Murdah. Tah stands for Taheem, and I always liked Cadillacs.

So do you have a Cadillac?

Yes, actually right now I got the Escalade 2002 model, but i'd allso want to buy an old Cadillac for like $4000 and stype and repair it to about $12000

Can you tell us a lil bit about the song "Pov City Anthem"?

Caddillac TahThe beat is based on the sounds to my producer Mr. Fingaz two-way pager. I met him a few years ago and he's a good producer. Pov is short form for poverty and Pov City is all the hoods in USA. This song fits all hoods around the world. Alot of DJ's gave me love at the clubs and on the radio, and Rap City played my video throughout the summer, so I'm very satisfyed.

Where are you from?

Jamaica, Queens.

How did you end up at Murder INC?

A friend of mine is a producer and he knows Irv Gotti. He introduced me and after I spit a few bars I got to be on the first Ja Rule album. After that I became one of the Murderers.

Can you tell us a little bit about your album?

It's called Pov City Hustler and it'll be released soon. It'll of corse be
good, haha.
You can expect alot of new shit like you never heard before. New shit like the two-way pager beat when it was new. I've got the Murderers crew with me, but the album won't be like the Murderer's album... I also got Nate Dogg, Shade Sheist, Ashanti and a couple of new artists.

Do you have any other producers than Irv Gotti and Mr. Fingaz on it?

Yeah, I allso got beats from Damizza whos from the west coast.

How did you end up an artist?

Well, I started writing texts seriously in 93 -94, but I was never
interested in rap. I grew up a few blocks from Hollis, Queens, so I was listening to Run-DMC alot.
I was allso listening to Rakim, EPMD and Kool G Rap. I realy wanted to become a DJ, but ended up an MC. Music kept me away from the streets, wich is good.

What artists do you like at the moment?

Shit, that's alot of them... I like everything good. The past time i've been listening alot on the albums from Trick Daddy, Eve, Snoop Dogg, Jadakiss...

So when will you come to Norway?

Hmm, your guess is as good as mine. I don't know what the plans for my promo tour for my album is, but we did alot of concerts in connection to the Murderers album. I've never been to Europe, and I realy want to go there.

You got alot of press in the United States because of the name The
Murderers?

Yes. Radio and TV didn't want to play the music just because of the name, but the streets was feeling us from the start. We don't do music for the media, but for the fans.
350 000 people bought the album without earing us on the radio. That's real.
