Details on The Thunderkatz new single "Anything"

Thunderkatz just recently recorded and mixed their debut single "Anything" in Atlanta studio Patchwerk.  Patchwerk is famously known among the Hip-Hop, and R&B community for producing some of the greatest artist's in the genre.  Artists such as Biggie Smalls, Tupac Shakur, Jamie Foxx, and Trick Daddy have Platinum hanging on the hallowed halls of Patchwerk.  Thunderkatz felt that this would be a great place to cut it's first single.  Not to be dissapointed, the studio was just amazing, and everything you could hope for.   From the live room to the mixing console, it was on point to the maxx.  Thunderkatz brought in consummate engineer Glen Marchese to record and mix.  Glen is a veteran engineer who has worked with everyone from L.L Cool J to Mariah Carey.

Irv Gotti flew in from NYC to oversee the mixing of the single.  Irv brought an excitement rarely seen from music CEO's.  Feeding on all the positive energy that everyone was exuding during this unforgettable time at Patchwerk, is what really makes "Anything" Pop.  "Anything" is a song that has been described as positive, hopeful, and most of all it's overall message is, the ability to believe in yourself, that you can do anything if you want it bad enough.  "Anything" is the perfect song to launch the career of the Thunderkatz.  It is a song that can cross over to a large number of radio formats.

"Anything" will be coming soon to a radio near you.  Also the full length album to be released on Inc. Records/Universal-Motown will soon follow.

Ashanti Drafts Pharrell, Dupri For New Disc

Ashanti's new "The Declaration" is in many ways about womanhood and empowerment, which led the Long Island, N.Y., native to work with new producers. The set is due June 3 via The Inc./Universal Motown. "It's been a long time coming for change, and the timing was just right," she tells Billboard.com.

First single "The Way That I Love You," is No. 18 on Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart this week. Robin Thicke, Jermaine Dupri, LT Hutton, Babyface, and Pharrell Williams are among the album's producers. Ashanti says "The Declaration" "touches on those low points in life that determine whether you're strong enough to go on. It reminds women that they can't let things get the best of them."

The album is expected to feature "Mother," inspired by Ashanti's close bond with her own mother, and "Click," which she says is "a relationship record done from a female point of view. It's about when you're trying to get in contact with someone you're seeing but he's not answering, and by the time he calls you feel like, 'I don't want to talk to you now.'" Ashanti is also working on a teen-skewed lifestyle book titled "Ashanti Style" via Jump at the Sun/Hyperion, but no release date has been announced yet.

SOHH checks in with the Thundkeratz

The Thunderkatz [not to be confused with the widely popular 80’s animated television show] are some of the new faces on Irv Gotti’s Murder Inc records

I got a chance to drop by a recording session at Atlanta’s legendary Patchwerk Recording Studios recently, and I chopped it up with the band about their sound, their take on how they’re going to impact the music game. And of course why in the hell they choose to name themselves after such an iconic TV show.

The best way to describe this alternative hip-hop[esque] group would be “hybrid”. They are a little bit of nostalgia mixed in with a whole lot of innovation—and just a dash of punk. They’ve created a pioneering sound that’s multi-dimensional. Yet their diversity in their music is placing them in a unique position to not be labeled as any one type of sound.

The band mates o8o [Dell], Ginger, Ben jive, Jus Jon, XO, and Juno collectively make up this unconventional group. Picture the Black Eyed Peas, but with a more authentic sound – and you got these kats.

They have an undeniable cross over appeal, but can still deliver some infused hip-hop for the hip-hop heads. And guess what, they are from the ATL and they’re trying to do it big.

Ja Rule speaks on Working with Good Charlotte and Jennifer Lopez

Jarulear_jeff_15651445_600

Ja Rule rocked a DCMA black hoodie and what he called "Jesus Christ bling" around his neck at the opening of Joel and Benji Madden's new boutique.

But he's doing way more than wearing Good Charlotte's dudes duds. He's also making music with them.

"They're  great guys," Rule said about the musicians he'd just met earlier that day. "I mean, the clothing line is hot. But besides that, they're just great. We kicked it today. We did some stuff in the studio, made some music and talked.  We felt the good vibe so we’ve just started laying some stuff that will be on my album coming out in June.  Some hip-hop stuff in the bag, some Good Charlotte stuff in the bag. This album in going to be much different to my previous work."

He's also looking forward to working with Jennifer (don't call me JLo) Lopez again.

Has he spoke to her since she had her babies?

"Yeah, yeah, yeah," he said. "I wished her congratulations and everything. I didn’t get to see the twins yet but I’m gonna shoot on down to Miami so I’ll see them soon. She’s taking some time off right now. So  I’ll let mamma relax you know. I’ll let her get her baby hat on, do her mamma thing and then she’ll be back in the swing of things."
