The Birth
Dell “o8o” Harris had a vision for what a rock group should be and in that vision he created the New Age Urban Hip-Hop Rockolistics group called the Thunderkatz.   Originally based out of Newark, NJ, the talented group has taken their sound to Atlanta where the music industry has begun to create and form some of the top artist and groups in the industry.

This seven member band has all the creative characteristics and style of the 80’s cartoon characters, the Thundercats.  You have the sexy female lead singer, Ginger, who is rockin’ you to sleep with her vocals and is equivalent to a new day Lisa Lisa from the 80’s group, Prince and the New Power Generation; o8o, the mastermind to the madness who has his hands in everything from the lyrics to the beats; XO, the new generation Beethoven on keyboards; jUnO, who murders the Skins with power and grace; BenGee droppin’ the bottom on the Bass with smooth lines and Jus Jon. the ultimate guitar aficionado.

The Come Up
Patience is a virtue (as the old cliché goes) and with patience comes good things.  The Thunderkatz have taken that old cliché to a new meaning.  Most groups who have tasted a grain of success feel they are owed something and stop having the drive and determination to make it to the top, but not the Thunderkatz.  They won’t stop until they have the full undivided attention of music lovers across the globe.

A group with no record deal but the drive to succeed has been the foundation of their feat.  Never stopping the dream, the Thunderkatz have placed themselves in a position to perform for some of the industries greatest executives, producers, artists and clubs.  Making their first ever appearance at the legendary Rolling Stones CBGB’s in New York City, the Thunderkatz have now performed in front of Irv Gotti, Lil Jon, Jazze Pha, producers Cool and Dre from Miami, Lloyd, and Ne-Yo (just to name a few).

Another chain in their short two year success story, is winning the 2006 BMI Urban Showcase and being recognized as a future phenom group by music journalists.  The doors have slowly begun to open as the group has created many opportunities to perform at local hot spots like Justin’s, MJQ (Drunken Unicorn room), CW Mid-town Music Complex, Atlanta Montreux Jazz Festival, and the Atlantis Music Conference.

The Reality Check Of Show Biz
The music industry and show biz are one of the toughest industries to break into—you can be hot one minute and forgotten about the next.   In order to stay on top you must keep your talent fresh and exciting.

After a whirlwind of excitement, the Thunderkatz started to find their phone had stopped ringing and nothing was moving towards the right direction.  But as stated above you must have the patience and drive in order to handle the pressure.   Rather than sitting around waiting and falling under pressure… the Thunderkatz threw themselves in the studio re-inventing and perfecting their old sound into a fresh but classic 80’s tune.  Working with a new production team that consisted of band member X.O. and new-comer Muse, the Thunderkatz have taken their new “old skool” sound and started making their debut album with inspiration coming from great hip-hop, rock legends like Run DMC, the Beastie Boys, and Madonna.

The Road Ahead
Mentor and friend to the Thunderkatz, Glen Marchese (one of the industry's top Mixing Engineers) heard the new sound and instantly fell in love with it.  It is now 2007 and as the powers that be are working on things like eloquent words and clauses; the Thunderkatz are putting the finishing touch on their debut album.

As the Thunderkatz continue to prepare for musical greatness, I leave you with a quote from the great jazz musician, Charlie Parker….

"Music is your own experience, your own thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn. They teach you there's a boundary line to music. But, man there’s no boundary line to art.”
And the Thunderkatz believe there is no boundary to their music or vision.

Mirror Neuigkeiten

Der Ruler scheint  momentan das sommerliche Klima von Miami der tristen Kulisse von New York vorzuziehen. Und nicht nur weil Ja Rule dort die größere Bude hat sondern auch weil er Scott Storch, Cool & Dre, Timbaland und andere Miami-Producing Größen an der Angel hat. Ich denke jeder kann sich vorstellen, was das bedeutet. Also nicht verwirrt sein wenn im Juni/Juli Mr. Rule nach vielen Jahren wieder die Billboards anführt.
Zusätzlich steht das Gerücht im Raum, dass es eine Zusammenarbeit mit Swizz Beats gibt. Das können wir euch aber leider noch nicht bestätigen. Auch welche The Inc. Produzenten an Mirror beteiligt sein werden steht noch nicht fest.
Was hingegen feststeht ist, dass Father Forgive Me ein wahrer Banger sein muss, denn Def Jam CEO Jay-Z lies verlauten, dass es sich bei dem Track um den besten Tune handelt den er je gehört habe...

The Bronx Kid in Höchstform

Harry-O. Ein Mann in den die Bronx alle Hoffnungen setzt; der die alten Zeiten, bei denen  die Bronx die Hauptstadt der Hip-Hop Kultur war, wiederbringen soll. Daher gibt es seit einiger Zeit in den MIO Foren nur noch eine Antwort auf Fragen um Harry-O....

Street Love weiter auf Erfolgskurs

Lloyd verkauft und verkauft. Schon 270.180 Exemplare seines 2. Albums „Street Love“ gingen weltweit über die Scanner. Wenn man bedenkt, dass sich sein erster Longplayer „Southside“ nur rund 100.000 Mal verkaufte, hat der junge RnB Sänger aus ATL allen Grund zur Freude.

New York Pt.2 BURNER

Keine Frage, New York rappelt sich wieder auf und wird in Zukunft wieder aktiver auf der Hip-Hop Landkarte vertreten sein. Jay, Nas und jetzt rollt das „Mpire“ die Stadt wieder fleißig auf, denn aus dem Hause The Inc. Kommt mit „New York is Back“ die neue Hymne der Stadt.

Ja Rule hat dafür wieder D-Block’s Jadakiss und Terror Squads Fat Joe klargemacht. Das Ergebnis ist ein wahrer Burner mit einer Hook die du 2-0-0-7 sicher nicht aus dem Kopf bekommen wirst.

Gehostet wird der Song von DJ Khaled und soll auf dessen „We The Best“ am 12. Juni auf Koch Records erscheinen. Nichts desto trotz hält sich momentan, nicht zuletzt durch Rules Radioansprache vor einigen Tagen, das Gerücht, dass die Single, die übrigens auch als „New York Pt.2“ bekannt ist, die erste Single von Ja Rules kommendem Album „Mirror“ werden könnte.

Egal wie, die Single ist ein Burner und so danken wir HipHopGame.com, für den Stream…

Thunderkatz in Masquerade Show

Vor kurzem war der Boss of all Bosses, Irv Gotti, mit seinen neusten Schützlingen von den Thunderkatz zu Gast in der Masquerade Show. Eigentlich ging es ja nur um die Performance der „Katz“ aber Irv lies es sich natürlich nicht nehmen seinen Neuzugang selber vorzustellen. Welcher Künstler träumt nicht von so engagierten Labelchefs?

Katz Frontmann o8o stellte uns dieses Video der Performance zur Verfügung, wofür wir uns noch mal bedanken möchten.

Übrigens die Performance ist überwältigend, also reinschauen und dann im Forum eure Meinung posten.

HipHopDX.com Thunderkatz o8o Interview

Es ist scheinbar wirklich nicht sehr viel, was Rock von Hip-Hop Musik unterscheidet. Mit ihren letzten Alben machten dies besonders N.E.R.D. und Mos Def deutlich. Es scheint also eine neue Strömung auf dem Musikmarkt zu geben, die genau jede Genres verbinden zu  versucht. Die Thunderkatz (bestehend aus 080, Ginger, Levelz, Jus Jon, Ben Gee, X.O. and Juno) ist genau eine dieser Gruppen und sie bezeichnen sich selber als „Urban Rockalistics“.

In Zukunft wird diese Gruppe den HipHop und Pop neu definieren, sagt zumindest ihr Frontmann o8o.

Irv Gotti nimmt jeden auf

Wie Labelchef Irv Gotti vor kurzem bei dem New Yorker Radiosender Hot97 verlauten lies, ist die Inc. Family um weitere Mitglieder gewachsen. Thunderkatz nennt sich die aus o8o, Ginger, Jon, Jive, XO und June bestehende Gruppe, deren Style an die Black Eyed Peas erinnert.

Irv Gotti spricht über die Zukunft

Am Dienstag war Irv Gotti in Funkmaster Flexs Sendung "Real Talk" zu Gast und sprach über seine Pläne für dieses Jahr. Es ging dabei nicht nur um sein Label, verbunden mit Ja Rule und Ashanti, nein der Meister persönlich bestätigte auch, dass es ab August auf VH1 die Reality Show mit dem Namen " Murder Inc Tale of two Families" geben wird. Diese Show wird das Platin Kind Irv von allen Seiten zeigen und eine neue Sicht auf den stolzen Familienvater erlauben... aber schaut euch hier das Gespräch an:

Saiku 720 auf Deathrow East Mixtape

Der aus Queens stammende DeathRow East Rapper Lake bringt ein Mixtape mit dem Titel "848" raus, welches neben sämtlichen Queensbridge Größen auch Hoodstocks Saiku 720 featured.
Der Name 848 leitet sich von dem gleichnamigen amerikanischen Polizeicode ab, welcher für das Anführen einer Bande steht.... mehr Informationen gibts bei HipHopGame.com
